Free-to-play giant Perfect World is finalizing plans to acquire Warframe studio Digital Extremes, alongside a surprising partner -- a chicken meat supplier. According to a press release from Sumpo Food Holdings Limited today, the meat supplier is acquiring Digital Extremes in a joint bid with Perfect World. The bid was made this week, and is now subject to due diligence investigations before the deal goes through. Digital Extremes was originally founded in Ontario, Canada back in 1993, and has ported numerous big name titles to other platforms over the years, including Unreal Tournament, BioShock and The Darkness II. Most recently the studio released free-to-play shooter Warframe for Windows PC and PlayStation 4. Gamasutra has contacted Perfect World to confirm this deal.
