Discoverability is a real problem these days. The democratization of game-making tools like Unity and Unreal has made it easier for anyone to make games, but that brings with it an overwhelming number of new releases every year that can easily drown out your work.

Speaking on the Indie Soapbox at GDC 2013, veteran developer Chris Hecker took a measured look at the complicated challenge of standing out in the game business -- even with something "highly anticipated" like his upcoming SpyParty -- and offered advice to other developers on overcoming the noise.
