Valve has been one of many corporate sponsors of the iD Tech educational program for years, and today it announced plans to strengthen that relationship by providing all iD Tech attendees with free Valve games, Steam accounts, and access to the Source SDK. The iD Tech initiative got its start 16 years ago as a summer camp for teaching kids how to program, and has since expanded to encompass multiple summer camp programs and online courses for game design, programming, film production, and more. "The purpose of our program is to help students prepare for a career in one of the largest growing fields in the world," stated iD Tech CEO Pete Ingram-Cauchi in a press release announcing Valve's renewed effort. "The support Valve has provided over the years is a tremendous value to the program and our students." More details on the iD Tech programs, including its game design coursework, can be found on the iD Tech website.
