Under the guidance of CEO and former Xbox boss Don Mattrick, Zynga continues its effort to redefine its business. The company known best for farming on Facebook said today it would be entering the licensed sports category, and both the NFL and Tiger Woods are on board. NFL Showdown is a new officially-licensed team management game from Zynga. The mobile game hits digital storefronts today, and comes under a new Zynga franchise brand, dubbed Zynga Sports 365. Additionally, less than a year after he and Electronic Arts parted ways, golf star Tiger Woods will be headlining new Zynga golf games, as part of a multi-year, multi-platform deal. Zynga said the new Tiger Woods game is for mobile, and is early in development, expected to launch in 2015. Zynga is also releasing a new mobile game in the endless runner genre featuring Looney Toons characters, as part of a deal with Warner Bros. That game is slated to launch before this holiday. The new partnerships are part of Zynga's plans "to do better." The company announced its lukewarm fiscal Q2 earnings today.
