Newsbrief: UK trade body TIGA has called for the British government to provide a training tax relief scheme, aimed at helping small creative businesses, including video game studios, promote skills and productivity training. Training is currently a critical issue in the UK creative sector, reasons TIGA, and training tax relief would allow game studios to offset expenditure on training for their developers. "This measure would enable developers and other businesses to finance management training, strategic skill development and promote investment in continuous professional development," added TIGA CEO Richard Wilson. The call out, which is in partnership with fellow trade body BIMA, notes that the average duration of training in UK studios is much shorter than the EU average, due to cost and time constraints.
