Newsbrief: Today, Valve announced that it has added support for five more currencies to the Steam platform. Players in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand can now pay for Steam games in their own currencies. In the "coming weeks," the company plans to add support for payment in the currencies of Canada, Mexico, Korea, Turkey, and Norway, as the system seeks to make it easier for users to make purchases and help head off piracy. When the updates are done, Steam will support 16 total currencies. Beyond the above, that includes U.S. dollars, UK pounds, Russian rubles, Brazilian reals, euros, and Japanese yen. If you're curious about what regions Steam makes most of its sales in, Valve revealed that information in January.
