"It certainly wasn't any ill-intention on behalf of the team. It's ambitious as a game; they're as embarrassed as we are and all you can do in those situations is say sorry."
- PlayStation UK GM Fergal Gara Fergal Gara, the chief exec of the UK PlayStation business, has given an interview to IGN in which he apologizes for the botched launch and ongoing problems of high-profile racing title Driveclub. He's not the first Sony exec to issue a mea culpa for the game: Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida wrote an apologetic Facebook post in October. Last month, SCEA president Shawn Layden said that the game was impossible to test adequately prior to release, at which point severe server issues seem to have taken the publisher entirely by surprise. The long-delayed racing game hit the PlayStation 4 in early October across the globe -- but problems with its online functionality have dogged Driveclub ever since. When it was announced, the game was slated as a launch title for the PS4. Its release slipped from November 2013 to October 2014, however. A planned free PlayStation Plus version of the game is still in the works, but has been postponed until the paid game can be fixed. "We apologize to any players affected and are doing our damnedest to make things right. So that's what we've been doing and the game is pretty near-complete now," Gara says.
