Sony is about to hook the PlayStation 4 Share button up to YouTube

Sony announced today that it would be integrating YouTube into the PlayStation 4's suite of gameplay sharing technology before the end of the year in an effort to remain competitive in the video game. The company has led the market when it comes to streaming gameplay from consoles via services like Twitch and uStream, but so far PlayStation 4 users have only been able to watch YouTube via the PlayStation Network's YouTube app -- getting gameplay broadcasts and clips up onto YouTube from the console is still far from simple. SCEA president and CEO Shawn Layden took a moment during the company’s E3 press conference today in Los Angeles to say that things would change once the company begins allowing users to share their gameplay clips directly to YouTube from the PlayStation 4 Share menu later this year. The company also intends to release new skins and other free downloadable content for the PlayStation 4 Playroom this summer in an effort to shore up the app's capacity to serve as a user-customizable broadcast platform.
