Almost a year ago, Las Vegas approved skill-based video game mechanics for slot machines in the state, and now, casino machine startup GameCo has licensed a "first-person action engine" from publisher 505 Games for a "skill-based experience" aimed at casinos.

The company plans to launch its first machines later this year in Atlantic City, as it seeks regulatory approval to deploy them.

"At GameCo, we're gamers and game producers who are committed to uniting the video game and casino worlds," Blaine Graboyes, CEO of GameCo, said in a statement.

The company envisions the "video game casino," or a skill-based section of the casino floor, as the future of the gambling industry.

Details on what game might be attached to the deal, if any, are not yet available.
