Designing a satisfying simulation game is hard. Working within the constraints of contemporary mobile devices makes it even harder, but Storm8 game design chief Dan Scheidegger led his team of developers to do just that with the Restaurant Story franchise. Now he's coming to GDC 2015 in March to explain how they pulled it off. During his talk, "Perfecting the Recipe for Mobile Success: Restaurant Story 2 Postmortem," Scheidegger will walk you through the development and launch of Storm8's remarkably successful 3D mobile restaurateur sim. Scheidegger will tackle what worked and what didn't, highlighting his team's critical learnings in art design and game mechanic development. He'll also take a deep dive into the soft launch strategies and ongoing iteration that Storm8 employed to increase retention and engagement for the free-to-play game. Not your style? No worries -- conference organizers look forward to announcing more GDC 2015 sessions in the months ahead. All of the announced talks are now available in the online GDC 2015 Session Scheduler, where you can begin to build your conference week and later export it to the up-to-the-minute GDC Mobile App, coming soon. In the meantime, don't miss your chance to save money by registering early -- the deadline to register for passes at a discounted rate is January 21, 2015. GDC 2015 itself will take place March 2-6 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
