Psyonix has partnered with the Blizzard-owned eSports operation Tespa to once again bring its rocket-powered competitive game to college-level competitive events.
Rocket League is now set to join Tespa’s line of fall tournament offerings, alongside Overwatch, HearthStone, StarCraft, Heroes of the Storm, and World of Warcraft after first making its Tespa premiere this past summer. Notably, it is now the only non-Blizzard developed title to have an event in the fall cycle.
On its own, the Collegiate Rocket League league is set as a three-month long season that will ultimately award students a total of $50,000 in scholarships.
Meanwhile, Blizzard has doubled down on its eSports initiative to offer over $1 million in scholarships and prizes to college players competing in Tespa events, including Rocket League. Tespa itself currently boasts more than 65,000 members 220 college campuses and has just recently launched its “Tespa University” utility to further extend its membership reach.
