Gamasutra's education-focused sibling site GameCareerGuide offers information for game industry students and beginners -- and every three weeks, it also launches a Game Design Challenge that anyone can join in.

It's meant for beginners, but the contest is a nice chance for developers of any background to stretch their creative muscles and get feedback on ideas that may just be so wild they just might work.

The most recent challenge invited developers to come up with a fighting game that did not feature traditional fighting game mechanics. The results proved to be inventive, contemplative, and maybe even a little doable!
