Nintendo wants to significantly ramp up Switch production, and according to the Wall Street Journal is reportedly finalizing a plan to create another 25 million to 30 million units in the next financial year

While Nintendo has made no secret of its desire to increase Switch production to satisfy burgeoning consumer demand, the new figures are significantly higher than those previously touted by the company.

Early reports suggested the Japanese giant would manufacture 16 million consoles next year, but now it seems Nintendo intends to almost double that amount.

What's more, that 30 million figure could even end up being a conservative estimate, with "people familiar with the matter" claiming the company might even "aim higher."

The latest official figures put Switch sales at 7.63 million, but Nintendo expects sales to reach 14 million by the end of the fiscal year. If that happens, the Switch will have surpassed the Wii U's lifetime sales total of 13.56 million in just 12 months.
