Mirror's Edge, the parkour-based platforming game from EA Dice, may become a TV show soon. According to Deadline, production company Endemol Shine Studios has picked up the rights to produce a TV show based on the freerunning video game, and says they plan to develop a "female-centered action series" out of the game's story.
Endemol Shine Studios mostly produces unscripted television for NBC and Fox, but also produced the AMC series Hell on Wheels. As of this announcement, no cast or network has been announced for a hypothetical Mirror's Edge show.
"We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience,” says President of Endemol Shine Studios Sharon Hall “It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.”
To date there haven't been many TV adaptations outside of animated cartoons. The TV show Defiance did include an attempt to cross over with an MMORPG from Trion Worlds the same name, but was cancelled in 2015. (The MMORPG currently remains live.)
