The Pokémon Company and Nintendo are bringing their much loved Pokémon franchise to smartphones in the form of reality-bending title, Pokemon Go

Developed by Google's former in-house AR studio, Niantic, who're working closely with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, the free-to-play game aims to bring the world of Pokémon to life by using smartphone location information to encourage players to search far and wide in the real world to discover and catch Pokémon.

Those looking to extend their Pokémon Go experience beyond their smartphone screens will be able to use the Pokémon Go Plus - a wrist worn device that connects to smartphones via Bluetooth - to receive in game notifications, catch Pokémon, and perform other simple actions, such as throwing Pokéballs.

“The day has finally come when Pokémon appear in the real world,” said Pokémon designer, Junichi Masuda, who revealed he's already started thinking about "how this game will connect with titles in the main series."

Pokemon Go will be coming to iOS and Android devices in 2016.
