Following on from the success of Forge of Empires, the studio's first major mobile hit, Hamburg, Germany-based strategy game developer InnoGames has announced plans to open a new studio in Dusseldorf. The company said that it increased its revenues significantly in 2014, thanks in large part to its mobile success. Forge of Empires has already seen 1.5 million downloads on iPad in three months; an iPhone version launched last week. InnoGames had best been known for browser games up till now. "With Forge of Empires we managed to establish InnoGames as a mobile game developer -- with the iPad version alone, we generate[d] revenue in the seven digits. This is the financial foundation for our continued sustained growth," said InnoGames CFO Armin Busen in a statement. The company has plans for more mobile launches in 2014. Prior to this expansion, it employed over 350 people in its Hamburg HQ. InnoGames plans to recruit more for the new studio.
