Newsbrief: Today at its Oculus Connect event in Hollywood, the company announced it's made its first-generation DK1 development kit available to everyone -- everyone who can build and program it, that is. It has posted the device's firmware and schematics on GitHub, freely available to download, so anyone can build and use a DK1 device. The company is currently shipping Oculus DK2 to developers, and has seen huge demand. It is currently also running the Oculus Connect event in Hollywood -- and Gamasutra is on-site to report on it, so expect more stories. Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey took to the stage moments ago to welcome attendees and, during his address, he mentioned the fact that the DK1 is now free for all.
