The New York Times reports that actor, poet, musician and occasional voice-over artist Leonard Nimoy passed away at his home this morning due to complications from obstructive lung disease. He was 83.
Best known for his work portraying Spock in the original Star Trek television series and ensuing films, Nimoy was also an enthusiastic director, photographer, author and public speaker.
As a voice actor he lent his talents to multiple Star Trek games, most recently Star Trek Online. He was also recognized for his work as the narrator of Civilization IV, the primary antagonist of the Square Enix game Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and the titular alien creature in Seaman.
