Free-to-play game company Nexon has locked down the publishing rights for the inaugural game from Envision Entertainment, a Frankfurt-based indie studio founded late last year by ex-EA Phenomic developers. This is the latest in a string of high-profile publishing deals for the Korean game company, which has already locked down rights to publish games from companies like United Front Games, Robotoki and Boss Key Productions -- all of which are independent studios founded by game industry veterans. Similarly, you may remember that the Phenomic team was responsible for games like Settlers and Spellforce before they were acquired by EA in 2006. The studio went on to make a number of free-to-play games like Lord of Ultima and Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances before being shut down last summer. Many of the developers who were laid off went on to start Envision, which is currently in production on its inaugural title: a free-to-play strategy game for mobile devices that Nexon expects to publish next year.
