Newsbrief: Character animation library and creation service Mixamo is making an official release this week of its Mixamo 2.0 storefront, which it has slowly been rolling out since February while maintaining its extant platform.

Developers who use Mixamo will notice that the company seems to have removed the option to return to "Classic Mixamo", which was reliant on the Unity Web Player browser plugin.

Google's Chrome browser has since stopped supporting the Netscape Plug-In API (NPAPI) framework which powers Unity's plugin, so Mixamo 2.0 now employs a WebGL viewer to let developers check out animations before they buy them.

Other improvements include a handful of usability tweaks, a bulk downloader and a bunch of new animation packs. For more details, check out the Mixamo website.
