The South Korea-based company behind the popular mobile messaging app Line has cut the ribbon on its own game publishing division and, in the process, acquired a majority stake in Dragon Flight developer NextFloor.

The new publishing arm, dubbed Line Games, aspires to boost Line’s game offerings on its platform as well as accelerate its global development operations in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Additionally, Line has picked up a 51 percent stake in the South Korean game developer NextFloor to both expand its own game development efforts and utilize some of the developer's operational capabilities for Line Games. As part of that arrangement, NextFloor’s CEO Min Kyu Kim is set to head up the new publishing division as its CEO.
