Super Mario Bros. is on the cusp of turning 30; it was released on the Nintendo Famicom, the Japanese version of the NES, on September 13, 1985.

To celebrate that, and also to promote the release of the company's upcoming Super Mario Maker, Nintendo has posted a brief but entertaining video in which NES Mario creative lead and current R&D head Shigeru Miyamoto answers some longstanding questions fans have had about the franchise.

The Q&A isn't exactly profoundly revealing, but it's likely to put a smile on your face; it's a nice contrast to the much headier 1998 interview that surfaced today, in which Miyamoto espouses his development philosophy much more seriously.

You can read more about Super Mario Maker in Gamasutra editor Christian Nutt's analysis of the package and its significance and potential; expect more Mario on Gamasutra tomorrow, as the anniversary fast approaches.
