Newsbrief: The most recent update to Mixamo's 3D character-modeling software Fuse streamlines the process of importing and editing models generated by Microsoft's second-generation Kinect sensor, making it easier for developers to replicate real people as avatars in their games. This is worth noting in light of the fact that Microsoft began selling a PC-compatible version of its Kinect 2.0 sensor last month for $200. If you own one, you can generate a model of someone using scanning software (like the free Body Snap app) and now import that avatar into Fuse, where it can be edited, rigged and animated like any other 3D model. Practical details of this new Kinect-to-Fuse workflow are available on the Mixamo website.
