Newsbrief: Microsoft has shipped 1 million Xbox Elite controllers, which retail for $149.99 in the U.S. and £119.99 in the UK.

The upmarket, customizable gamepad was unveiled at E3 2015 before hitting shelves in October, meaning Microsoft has hit today's milestone in less than 12 months.

The news was broken by Xbox chief Phil Spencer, who announced the milestone along with a message of thanks over on Twitter

Coincidentally, we were recently given a glimpse at a number of controller concepts for the original Xbox by the system's co-creator, Seamus Blackley.
