Rayman creator Michel Ancel has given fans a rare glimpse of the franchise's pixelated beginnings after unearthing a SNES version of the original Rayman that never saw the light of day.
Writing on Instagram, Ancel explained that before Rayman made its debut on the Atari Jaguar, he was working on a version for Nintendo's popular SNES system.
Despite being playable, that version of the game was never finished, and until now was believed to have been lost for good.
After doing some rummaging, however, Ancel dug up the original SNES ROM, and managed to get the game working again after almost 25 years.
"Four people in the world have seen this [version of the game]. We thought it was lost, but somewhere in the cold electronic circuit, something was still alive -- and running at full 60fps," wrote Ancel, before teasing he should "do a Switch version."
