Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson has left BioWare to pursue new opportunities after nearly 16 years with the studio, according a post on the company blog.

The post contains a letter written by Hudson to his fellow developers, in which he states: "I have decided to hit the reset button and move on from BioWare. I’ll take a much needed break, get perspective on what I really want to do with the next phase of my life, and eventually, take on a new set of challenges."

This is notable because Hudson oversaw development of all three major Mass Effect games, most recently serving as producer of Mass Effect 3 in 2012. He later laid out some of the challenges the team faced in shipping that game during an interview with Gamasutra.

Hudson was involved with development on the next Mass Effect game before his departure from BioWare. Gamasutra has reached out for more information about his departure, and we'll update this story with any meaningful new information.
