While Linux is gathering speed when it comes to game development support, Windows is still the lead platform for PC games. Leadwerks is looking to shift more devs over to Linux, with the launch of its game engine tools on Ubuntu. Leadwerks ran a successful Kickstarter campaign last summer to put solid 3D game development tools on Linux, with the aim to allow developers to build their games within the Linux operating system. The company today announced that its engine tools have launched on the Ubuntu Software Center -- and Leadwerks now plans to focus on Ubunty as its primary supported platform, even over its Windows engine. Leadwerks CEO Josh Klint noted that there are plenty of exciting advances right now when it comes to Linux and video games, not least Valve's recently announced SteamOS and the barrage of Linux-based Steam Machines that are due to launch in the coming years. More information can be found on the Leadwerks website.
