There's a lot going on at Konami at the moment, and at a time when the publisher should be celebrating the release of Metal Gear Solid V and a healthy profit margin, it's instead having to deal with unsavory reports highlighting the studio's controlling corporate culture, and disgruntled fans disappointed with the firm for cutting off Metal Gear creator, Hideo Kojima.
Now, with all eyes on the publisher's biggest release of the year, the Japanese powerhouse has quietly announced plans to close a total of 31 mobile apps in Japan.
In a foreign press release, translated by Japan-based game industry expert Dr. Serkan Toto, the company explained it will shut down 31 paid iOS apps, including the likes of Metal Gear Solid Touch, Silent Hill: The Escape, and Bomberman Touch.
Konami's free-to-play titles, which continue to do well in the region, appear to be safe for now.
