Industry veteran Aaron Loeb has signed on with free-to-play game company Kabam to serve as senior vice president of its North American studios. In his new role, Loeb is expected to manage over 400 employees spread across Kabam's offices in San Francisco and Vancouver. You may remember Loeb as the former CEO of Giants: Citizen Kabuto developer Planet Moon Studios. After the studio ran into financial trouble back in 2011, Loeb left Planet Moon to join Playfish as the general manager of the EA-owned social game maker's San Francisco branch. He went on to become a vice president at EA and general manager of Simpsons: Tapped Out developer Generation Studios. “Kabam makes incredibly compelling free-to-play games that measure audience engagement not in days, but in years,” stated Loeb in a press release announcing his hire. “I’m excited to help expand that portfolio and define the next generation of gaming for the company, the industry and players around the world.” The social games company is riding a growth spurt after reportedly doubling its revenue last year thanks to the remarkable popularity of free-to-play titles like The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth.
