Popular Japanese game mag Famitsu has published its list of the region's top-selling retail games for the first half of 2016, and the Nintendo 3DS is still top of the pile.

Nintendo's popular handheld had five titles in the top 10, including Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, Yo-Kai Sangokushi, and Monster Hunter Generations — which took the top three spots respectively.

The full chart has been made available through NeoGAF. You can find the top 10 below, ranked by units sold. That number does not include digital game sales, but does encompass physical games, game codes and bundled games sold at retail:

  1. [3DS] Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 (Square Enix) 609,603

  2. [3DS] Yo-Kai Sangokushi (Level 5) 539,181

  3. [3DS] Monster Hunter Generations (Capcom) 345,656

  4. [3DS] Kirby: Planet Robobot (Nintendo) 330,809

  5. [PS4] Dark Souls III (From Software) 313,187

  6. [3DS] Monster Strike (Mixi) 310,167

  7. [PSV] Dragon Quest Builders (Square Enix) 287,521

  8. [WIU] Splatoon (Nintendo) 269,056

  9. [PS4] Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and Prophecy's End (Square Enix) 260,097

  10. [WIU] Super Mario Maker (Nintendo) 240,307

Nintendo's dominance might not come as a surprise to those of you who saw yesterday's financials

Despite a drop in both sales and profits, the console maker actually saw an increase in software sales for the quarter, with 3DS sales in particular rising by 7 percent year-over-year. To date, Nintendo has shipped 282.65 million games for the 3DS.
