GDC poll: 46% of devs plan to support their games more than a year after launch

Recent results from a poll of Game Developers Conference attendees reflect how mobile and online platforms have changed the way developers release games. In the second annual GDC State of the Industry survey, 46 percent of the more than 2,600 developers polled last month said they plan on supporting their game for over one year after launch. 28 percent of respondents said that ongoing support would come in the form of customer support services, while 24 percent said they would be releasing free downloadable content, and 20 percent would be releasing paid DLC. This is the first year the support question on the GDC survey, so we don't have year-on-year comparisons this time around. But as update-centric models continue to proliferate, we may see an increase in post-launch support. Here are the graphs from this year's GDC State of the Industry Survey:
