David Braben, the British industry veteran best known for his Frontier, Raspberry Pi and Elite exploits, has been appointed OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honors list. The BBC reports that Braben's work in both the video game and computer industries earned him this honor, due in part to his recent work with the Raspberry Pi movement. On the Frontier blog, Braben noted that it was "a great honor" to receive the award. "I've just got back from an excellent E3 show where our Elite: Dangerous game was being shown," he explained. "It was the first time Frontier has been an exhibitor in our own right at E3 - all previous occasions have been exhibiting our games with a partner like Microsoft, Atari or Sony." Other industry veterans who have received Queen's birthday honors in the past include Charles Cecil, Jason Kingsley and the Darling brothers.
