Electronic Arts is losing longtime executive and former EA DICE chief Karl Magnus Troedsson, who joins indie publisher Raw Fury Games this week as a partner and co-owner.

Troedsson spent 15 years at DICE in a variety of roles, including general manager, so it's interesting to see him join Raw Fury (which has published games like Kingdom and Kathy Rain) as an investor and its fifth full-time member.

He's had his hand in the indie game dev scene for some time, having served as a mentor to the Stugan game dev accelerator program in Sweden, and evidently it's there -- deep in the Swedish countryside -- that he decided to leave EA.

"Visiting the teams up in the deep forests of Sweden, where they spend two months jamming on their games, I felt a newfound passion for smaller games," Troedsson told GamesBeat. "It was extremely inspiring to meet all the driven individuals there, and I started thinking how I could help out further while doing something I really enjoyed."

It's yet unclear what Troedsson's responsibilities will be at Raw Fury, other than to "dive in where it's needed." Incidentally, Raw Fury's current portfolio of games includes procedurally-generated platformer Gonner from indie studio Art In Heart, which was founded by a former Stugan participant.
