Call of Duty vets Taehoon Ho and James Chung founded Reload Studios together; after a year in business, the company has pulled in $4 million in investment on the back of World War Toons, its first announced game -- a cartoony, multiplayer first person shooter for VR platforms.
The company had already nabbed a $2 million investment, and with a total of $4 million, has closed its first round.
The company has also expanded beyond games in a partnership with WoofbertVR, creating interactive museum experiences -- and the company announced slightly more concrete plans to move even further, to education, military, automotive, film and other uses of VR tech.
Investment came from Rothenberg Ventures, World Innovation Lab, Barunson E&M, YK CRCM RS LLC, and unspecified private investors.
"VR development is interesting because we wind up sitting around and theorizing about a lot of stuff, and then when we try it...a lot of stuff that we thought would work, doesn't.
