In a brief interview published by the Wall Street Journal today, Disney Interactive VP John Vignocchi shares some intriguing details about the company's playerbase in the process of promoting the company's upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0, which launches this weekend.
Notably for developers (and as noticed by NeoGAF), Vignocchi says that Disney Infinity's unexpected popularity among girls has shaped Disney Interactive's approach to designing the latest entry in the franchise. Vignocchi reportedly said that the studio predicted a 70/30 split of male and female Disney Infinity players, but in practice the games are enjoyed by boys and girls in roughly equal measure.
That, says Vignocchi, is partly why the company chose to include one female and one male figurine (Star Wars characters Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker, respectively) in the Disney Infinity 3.0 starter pack that goes on sale this weekend.
