DayZ creator Dean Hall briefly took the stage during Sony's annual Gamescom press conference today to announce that Bohemia Interactive will launch a PlayStation 4 version of the game at some point in the future. This isn't terribly surprising in light of the fact that Hall has previously expressed interest in porting DayZ to contemporary consoles. In an interview with Gamasutra earlier this year, Hall said he was curious but still "on the fence" about whether an open-world survival game like DayZ could flourish within either the Microsoft or Sony platform ecosystems. Now it seems that Bohemia Interactive has decided to make the jump to PSN, though it's unclear how involved Hall will be with the porting process -- earlier this year he announced his intent to leave Bohemia Interactive and start his own studio as soon as Bohemia no longer needs his assistance. Of course, this isn't the first time Bohemia has brought one of its games to console -- the company has previously released games on both the original Microsoft Xbox and the Xbox 360. The standalone version of DayZ is currently being sold as an in-production alpha through Steam's Early Access service, and it's unclear whether the PlayStation 4 version of the game will be sold in a similar fashion.
