Blackthorne developer Blizzard Entertainment is bringing its online platform a little more in line with competitors like Steam and Xbox Live this week by launching its own cross-game voice chat network, branded simply "Blizzard Voice."

Industry watchers should note it's another brick in the platform Blizzard is building to support its online games, a platform that was until very recently known as Battle.net.

Blizzard is in the process of dropping that brand after 20 years in an effort to minimize confusion about its various online services, and now the voice chat technology it began testing in closed alpha early this year as "Battle.net Voice Chat" has officially rolled out as Blizzard Voice.

Like the extant Blizzard Streaming tech, Blizzard Voice is accessible now through Blizzard's dedicated launcher and works across all games accessible via said launcher, from Overwatch to Hearthstone to World of Warcraft
