During a strong E3 media briefing in Los Angeles Sunday evening (which included Andrew W.K. performing "Ready to Die"), Bethesda unveiled the upcoming game Starfield, a sci-fi game described by Bethesda’s Todd Howard as a new “next-generation” game.

Howard said it’s Bethesda’s first new franchise in 25 years. While he didn’t commit to a release date, or show off anything more than a teaser, he said it would be coming out before The Elder Scrolls VI--another newly-confirmed game with a presumably far-off release date.

Other highlights of the Bethesda showcase were more details of the online multiplayer game Fallout 76 (due to release November 14 this year), gameplay for Rage 2 from id Software and Avalanche Studios, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, new Prey updates and DLC, a new free-to-play mobile game in The Elder Scrolls Blades, a tease of the new Doom Eternal, and other updates to existing franchises and games.
