Newsbrief: Dark Souls publisher Bandai Namco has cut the ribbon on a new studio in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The new office, appropriately dubbed Bandai Namco Studios Malaysia, was formally launched earlier this week with the help of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

The Malaysian team will collaborate with Bandai's Singapore branch to develop global content, and will also work alongside MDEC to corner and develop the local video game ecosystem.

"Having a major industry player such as Bandai Namco setting up a studio in Malaysia speaks volumes of our talent pool, games industry and national economy," said MDEC spokesperson Hasnul Hadi Samsudin.

"Our games industry is stronger than ever and we are excited to see what lies ahead. At the same time, we are thrilled to be collaborating with the Japanese game industry to grow this region together."
