Newsbrief: Middleware company Autodesk has acquired Shotgun Software, the team behind a cloud-based production tracking and asset management solution for video games, with the aim to speed up further development on these resources. Shotgun Software launched in 2006, and its solution is used across film, television and games production, integrated into tools like Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya. The two companies will now look to build new solutions based around their current setups. The exact terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. This move comes weeks after Autodesk announced it had acquired Stockholm-based Bitsquid and its upcoming 3D game engine.
