Newsbrief: The Assassin's Creed series has now sold over 100 million copies, according to publisher Ubisoft. The landmark was reached just before the franchise's ninth birthday.
Ubisoft has churned out a new game every year since the series launched in 2007, but has ruled out releasing another this year due to the mixed reactions to Assassin's Creed Unity, and Syndicate's unexpectedly slow launch.
That's not to say you won't see any Assassin's Creed games on shelves when November rolls around. Ubisoft is doing its best to plug the gap with the remastered Ezio Collection -- which pulls together Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations -- and the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie.
"To have this franchise join the ranks of those that have reached more than 100M sold is a testament to the teams that have taken on that challenge over the years," said Ubisoft senior producer, Martin Schelling.
