Apple has kicked off the new year by acquiring mobile development platform Buddybuild for an undisclosed fee.

Buddybuild specializes in mobile development solutions, and is primarily known for offering integration, deployment, and feedback tools through its eponymous Buddybuild platform.

Moving forward, the Canadian outfit will work with the Xcode engineering group at Apple to build developer tools for the entire iOS community.

"Buddybuild ties together continuous integration, continuous delivery and an iterative feedback solution into a single, seamless platform," explained the company.

"No more cobbling together disparate systems to meet your mobile development needs, with buddybuild, you can focus on what matters most: creating awesome apps."

The company will be staying in Vancouver after the acquisition, and all Buddybuild services will remain available to existing customers.

It won't, however, be accepting new customers, and existing free starter plans and Android app development will be discontinued on March 1, 2018.
