Newsbrief: Nintendo says that Mario Kart 8 has sold 2 million copies since it launched four weeks ago, meaning that roughly a third of Wii U owners have a copy of the game. The number was provided by Genyo Takeda, speaking on behalf of president Satoru Iwata at Nintendo's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, and as reported by IGN. Iwata was unable to attend due to illness. Nintendo also says that sales of the Wii U console have picked up as a result of the Mario Kart 8 release. As of March 31, Nintendo had sold 6.17 million units of the Wii U. It has not yet released newer numbers.
